MTA 1951 Token

MTA 1951 Token

A piece of Boston transit history, this token was issued by the MTA as early as 1951. The MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority) operated Boston's transit system until 1964, when the MBTA took over operations. The bearer of this token could use it at the turnstiles to enter an MTA, and later an MBTA, station. Tokens are sold as is, showing the wear after decades of use. Tokens are not in mint condition. Each token is just over 3/4" in diameter and just under 3/16" thick.
