Policies & Shipping

Domestic Shipments
Shipments to addresses within the USA are sent via USPS and UPS. Tracking and shipping confirmations are automated and are sent out via email at time of shipping. We ship to American overseas / military addresses via USPS.

International Shipments
As of February 20, 2024 we began to offer international shipping to many countries. International shipments are sent exclusively via DHL. We are unable to utilize any other carrier for international shipping. Shipping rates and/or applicable duties/taxes are calculated at check out. International shipping rates are set by the carrier, DHL, not by us. For countries that we do not ship to (those not listed here), we recommend customers arrange a freight-forwarding service with a U.S. ship-to address. Orders placed that ship to a freight forwarder's U.S. address will be fulfilled. Arrangement of freight-forwarding is the responsibility of the customer.

Shipping Charges
Calculated rates are determined by the shipping carriers we use (USPS, UPS, DHL). Flat rates are offered for most domestic USA shipments.

Shipping Lead Times
Please note that while we prepare and ship each order ASAP, we cannot guarantee arrival times for shipments. Once we give the shipment to the carrier, the delivery schedule is up to the carrier. Tracking information is provided via email (after we create the shipping label) with each shipment.

Picking Up An Order
Customers have the option to pick up their order at our retail store in Cambridge, MA. Orders will not be ready until AFTER we contact the customer and confirm that the order is ready. Orders must be picked up within 90 days. We are not responsible for orders not picked up after 90 days. After 90 days, items may be returned to inventory and a refund may not be provided.

Returns
MBTAgifts accepts returns on unopened, stock items in resalable condition only. Returns are accepted within 30 days of date of original purchase only. Proof of purchase (email receipt, printed receipt, etc.) must be provided. Returns of non-defective and properly fulfilled items can be presented at our retail store or shipped back to MBTAgifts. Refunds will be provided for approved returns. Returns are not accepted on sale or clearance items.

Non-Returnable Items
Custom products, including wooden, framed, and other customized or made-to-order products are not returnable nor exchangeable unless defective or damaged in shipment. Contact us regarding shipment damage and we'll replace in kind or provide a refund for the damaged item. Antique memorabilia including antique station signs, decommissioned station signs, antique roll signs, and decommissioned equipment are not returnable nor exchangeable unless damaged in shipment. Contact us regarding any item damaged in shipment and we'll replace in kind or provide a refund if the item is irreplaceable. Returns are not accepted on sale or clearance items. All sales are final on sale or clearance items.

Defective Items
Though MBTAgifts strives to create the highest quality products, MBTAgifts will replace or provide a refund for any defective item. Defective items must be presented within 30 days of date of original purchase in order to receive a replacement or refund. Proof of purchase (email receipt, printed receipt, etc.) must be provided. Returns of defective items can be presented at the WardMaps retail store or shipped back to MBTAgifts. An in-kind replacement or a refund will be provided for each returned defective item.

Improperly Fulfilled Orders
MBTAgifts will replace or provide a refund for any improperly fulfilled orders. Improperly fulfilled orders must be presented within 30 days of date of original purchase in order to receive a replacement order or refund. Proof of purchase (email receipt, printed receipt, etc.) must be provided. Please contact us regarding improperly fulfilled orders prior to sending items back.

Items Damaged In Shipping
Though robust packaging and shipping methods are used, damage of any items in shipment will be addressed by MBTAgifts. MBTAgifts will ask for a customer's assistance in processing any claims against a shipper. Once the claim has been resolved with the shipper, we will offer a replacement or refund for the damaged item. Please contact us regarding items damaged in shipping prior to returning the items.

Payment
MBTAgifts accepts major credit cards and third party payment entities via our secure online shopping cart (Shopify). Please choose the form of payment at checkout. MBTAgifts does not see nor do we store customer credit card numbers entered via the online shopping cart. For each order paid with a credit card, the payee name will read WardMaps LLC or MBTAgifts by WardMaps LLC or something similar. MBTAgifts is owned and operated by WardMaps LLC.

Sales Tax

6.25% Massachusetts sales tax is automatically calculated and added to orders shipping to an address within Massachusetts or orders to be picked up at our retail store in Cambridge, MA.

Pricing Policy
We reserve the right to change, lower, or increase the price of any item at any time. If we lower a price for an item, such as when we run a sale or put an item on clearance, we do not provide retroactive refunds or credits.

E-Gift Cards
E-Gift cards expire seven years after date of purchase.

Printing Orientation and Format
For our fine art prints (reproductions of maps, graphic art, etc.), unless otherwise indicated, we print each image as large as possible on the selected paper size. If the image is vertical/portrait in orientation, then the image will be centered onto the selected paper size vertically. If the image is horizontal/landscape in orientation, then the image will be centered onto the selected paper size horizontally. For images (like neighborhood maps) that are square, the image will be centered onto the selected paper size and the paper will be horizontal/landscape in orientation.

Green Practices
MBTAgifts reuses undamaged corrugated cardboard shipping containers and packing materials that we receive shipments in. This practice also keeps costs down for our customers by limiting the number of new shipping containers we need to purchase. Whenever possible, MBTAgifts purchases papers, boards and shipping containers that contain recycled content. MBTAgifts recycles 100% of our scrap paper and board products, keeping these materials out of landfills. MBTAgifts utilizes Zipcar car sharing service to transport items.

The MBTAgifts is operated by WardMaps LLC under contract from the MBTA. Though MBTAgifts features protected content of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), this website is not owned nor operated by the MBTA and the MBTA bears no liability with respect to transactions conducted with MBTAgifts.

Privacy
MBTAgifts does not collect nor retain private information from online users other than that which may be required for the regular functionality of MBTAgifts and/or to facilitate the processing of orders and/or to communicate with existing customers regarding their order(s) and/or to share promotional information. Customer information gathered is used by MBTAgifts for the processing, tracking, and fulfillment of customer orders. Submitted emails and customer information are never sold nor shared outside of order processing mechanisms. Customer names, addresses, and contact information submitted via the MBTAgifts online shopping cart are protected on secure servers and never shared with any third parties for any reason.
