Brattle (Street) Platform Sign from Scollay Under Station

This is an authentic Boston subway station sign. It reads BRATTLE in white capital letters on a black background with a white board. In the early 20th century, the sign hung at the Brattle (Street) Platform of Scollay Square Under. The Brattle Platform was served by streetcars. Scollay Under opened in 1898 on the Tremont Street Subway. While the Brattle Platform no longer exists, the Brattle Loop tracks doo. Scollay Under Station was renamed Government Center (lower level) in the 1960s.

Sign measures 57" long x 15" high. it is made of porcelain enamel on sheet steel. Sign weighs approximately 30 pounds. Grommets around perimeter of sign allow for easy installation. See pictures for condition.
